Teaching Shapes using ICT
Areas of Learning: Mathematical Development
Context: Exploring shapes and patterns.
Learning Intentions: To talk about, recognise and create simple patterns (MD).
To use lanuage such as bigger and circle to describethe shape and size of flat shapes (MD).
To choose colours and tools for a purpose (CD).
Success Criteria: I know/can create a simple pattern.
I know/can name and describe flat shapes.
Key Vocabulary: pattern, repeating, shape, circle, square, rectangle, triangle, star, colour, palette, tool, mouse, arrow, click, paintbrush, size, line, fill, undo, print, digial camera, photograph.

Activity one:
You will need: Textease 2000 or Studio shape hat (right click on this link to save on your computer).
Create your own hat on screen using shapes from the shape bank. Decorate with more shapes, glitter and sequins and staple together.
Activity two:
You will need: simple paint program.
Create your own colourful shape using the line and fill tool. Print and create a display of shapes.

Teaching Phonics
Step 1: (25 minutes)
PHONICS activity.
• (5 minutes) Flashcards. Quick look and say out the sounds out loud.
Show alphabet cards quickly.
• (10 minutes) Oral segmenting: ‘Talk like a robot’ using arm action.
Eg. b-a-t, h-o-t, r-o-d, p-e-t and m-a-n.
• (5 minutes) Blending. Giving Instructions. Put hands on your h-ea-d, n-o-se, ch-i-n, ch-eek, kn-ee-s, t-oe-s and h-a-n-d.
• (5 minutes) Writing. Spelling activity.(ring, bang, zoo, book and door)

Fun Activity for Typing
Aktiviti: Teknik Berlumba
Berlumba merupakan satu teknik menarik yang dapat membantu murid-murid membuat latihan menaip. Berikan murid-murid text yang sama dan berikan mereka 30 saat (atau mengikut masa yang tertentu). Gunakan pencatat masa untuk lebih 'exciting'. Bila mereka selesai, beri mereka peluang untuk membezakan hasil taipan sesama mereka. Kira banyak perkataan yang merka taip dalam masa yang telah diberikan. Pastikan kesilapan perkataan dalam penaipan tidak dikira dan untuk mengurangkan kesilapan tersebut, cabar murid-murid untuk tidak membuat kesilapan penaipan perkataan.
Atau....Cikgu boleh berikan aktiviti berlumba ini untuk latihan Alphabetical Order secara perseorangan. Catat masa berapa saat mereka boleh menaip A hingga Z tanpa kesilapan.
Peralatan yang diperlukan: pencatat masa, text, keyboard, monitor, mouse dan hard drive.
